An engaging and informed speaker

Rosemary is an engaging and informed speaker on topics relating to Children’s Literature and ‘getting kids into books’.

She is especially gifted in motivating the young reader, and her intense knowledge of children’s books helps find the ones that open the magic door for them.

She can speak to parent groups to give them some guidelines on how to awaken or reawaken that love of reading in their children. Or give some insights into what might get boys over the reading hurdle. Or how to motivate the reluctant reader.

She can speak to teacher groups to provide tips and tricks to build enthusiasm in their classes and libraries.

Her experiences as a judge of the NZ Post Children’s Book Awards for two years provide insights into the process and what makes an award winning Children’s Book.

Her involvement in Storylines Children’s Literature Foundation (Trustee and Management Chair) and IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) provide detailed insights into the wider world of children’s literature and what makes children’s authors tick.

Her experiences in South Korea preparing an International Anthology of Peace Stories for Children, with authors and illustrators from around the world makes a fascinating story with pictures.
